Active Learning Processes with Technology
Learning with technology in Yu Neng Primary School is guided by the SLS Pedagogical Scaffold which enables teachers to design technology-enabled learning experiences to enhance students’ learning.
In designing learning with technology, teachers focus on what the learner and placing the learning activities at the heart of the design. Teachers consider the following while planning:
- How will students’ focus and interest be oriented towards the learning objectives?
Promote Thinking and Discussion
- How will students think about ideas and concepts?
- What skills and processes will students perform?
- How will students build on their current understanding?
Facilitate Demonstration of Learning
- How will students demonstrate their understanding and new learning?
Monitor and Provide Feedback
- How can students’ learning be advanced?

Code for Fun Programme
Our school offers a progressive 6-year programme in which all our students gain exposure to coding. The Code for Fun programme provides opportunities for students to develop logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Students learn logical reasoning in a fun and engaging way using tactile coding blocks and iPads at P1 and P2. At the higher levels, they are taught to use different block-based editors to code to control the movement of robots to perform different functions as well as to create their own animated stories.
Aligned with the mp4 vision of nurturing future-ready and responsible digital learners, the school focuses on nurturing future-ready learners who will innovate and enrich lives by solving everyday problems through exploration and self-discovery. Yu Neng pupils have the opportunity to create animated stories with voiceovers and subtitles to help young children read, and programme sensors to help the elderly turn on lights as part of their Project Work. Working on their micro:bits, a tiny programmable computer, they are able to create pedometers, musical instruments and robots etc. The increasing complexity provides students with greater opportunities to collaborate, communicate, and think critically and inventively.
Primary 5 and 6 pupils creating micro:bits projects such as fitness step counters, calculators and light and sound sensors using different block-based code editors (Scratch and Microsoft Block Editor).
Cyber wellness Programme
The focus of Cyber Wellness in Yu Neng is about helping pupils to become responsible and discerning digital learners. Our programme aims to inculcate important cyber wellness principles in our pupils through topics like addiction on games, copyright issues, cyber bullying, handling inappropriate content and netiquette. Pupils will learn to practice safe and responsible use when navigating the cyberspace and be a positive peer influence by harnessing technology for collaboration, learning and productivity, as well as advocating positive use of technology for the good of the community.
