The WorldClass@YN – Staying Current@YN programme seeks to bring the world into the classrooms by introducing people and cultures from around the world to our students. The programme consists of The Flat Stanley Project, Staying Current@YN and Contemporary Issues@YN.
Through The Flat Stanley Project, P2 and P3 students take the book character, Flat Stanley, on different adventures and outings and share these experiences with friends locally and overseas by writing letters and emails. P3 and P4 students discuss news events / current affairs happening in Singapore and globally while P5 and P6 students talk about contemporary issues that matter to them and others. |

Upper Primary read a series of authentic, content-rich texts featuring culturally diverse settings and characters to learn more about how people in different parts of the world experience life. The reading of these carefully curated texts and the specially designed pre- and post-reading activities inculcate positive values, develop critical thinking and foster empathy in our students. |

The POP is an exciting programme designed to enable our students to acquire the skills to talk effectively as well as developing subject knowledge and understanding through talk. POP focuses on the four strands of oracy – physical, cognitive, linguistic and socio-emotional – to enable students to communicate effectively with one another. Students practise their skills through presentations, discussions (of current affairs and contemporary issues) and debates. |
