Plato once said, “It (Music) gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” In Yu Neng Choir, we believe that we can impart the joy of creating music to break down barriers and allow every unique individual to join a team as one entity. In Yu Neng Primary School, our choir aims to encourage the holistic development of each and every child by inculcating in them the self-discipline needed for excellence, the empathy required of music appreciation and the openness and curiosity essential to creativity. Singing in a choir also allows the members to develop team work and resilience though the various practices and rehearsals.
Led by Teacher Mok Kang Wai, a vocal coach and choreographer from Kids Performing™ Academy of the Arts, Yu Neng Choir members will be exposed to all sorts of musical styles from classical and choral to show tunes and rock music. Teacher Mok Kang Wai will also teach students how to incorporate some fun and exciting choreography to engage their audience. The teachers-in-charge, Mdm Catherine Tan, Mdm Marlina, Mrs Ignatia Leng and Mdm Eymani, also believe in cultivating an encouraging and supportive learning environment by actively promoting a climate of graciousness, compassion and respect. But most importantly, choir lessons are so enjoyable thanks to the participative and enthusiastic choir members. Keeping the atmosphere joyful, relaxing and positive allows members to create harmonious melodies, not to mention, meaningful friendships.
Yu Neng Choir encourages members to use their talents and abilities to benefit their school and community. Choir members will have the opportunities to participate in various school performances such as Children’s Day and Teachers’ Day concerts to showcase the fruits of their learning. Singing is fun, relaxing and a great way to meet and make friends.
