The entire Yu Neng community of 1324 pupils, staff and parent volunteers came together on Fri 4 Aug 2017 to decorate and hand-stitch owl motifs on about 1300 pieces of ‘Owl’ Eco Tote bags as part of our school’s Pay-it-Forward (PIF) project. We are proud to share that we have attained the Singapore Book of Records award for ‘The most number of people decorating tote bags together’ in recognition of our collective efforts to contribute to a good cause on that day.
The PIF project which is running for the third year since 2015 is a collaboration with our Parent Support Group and The Rice Company Limited. Proceeds from the sale of the eco tote bags will be channeled to support two children charities – The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Building Artists Fund.
Through this experience, our pupils, staff and stakeholders have learnt to each take action to make the world a better place for others by ‘paying-it-forward’ in the hope that each act of kindness is multiplied and passed on to others.
We would like to thank all our parents who have to generously volunteered to make time and contribute their efforts to be part of this meaningful whole-school event. We greatly appreciate your involvement and partnership with us and we look forward to your continued support in future events.
Here are some pictures from the day.
